Default slows down quickly while coasting

So today I noticed that my 2000 dakota sport was slowing down faster then normal when i let off the gas. I can go from 35mph to 25mph in about 5 seconds maybe less. I even slow down when i let off the gas while rolling down a hill. Once I get to about 25mph the effects seem to be less evident but it still feels like it might be slowing down more then usual. This also dosent happen immediately after letting off the gas. The truck will coast like normal for about 3-5 seconds then it will feel as if the brakes were applied a little bit. I can even feel my body lean/ get pulled forwards from the deceleration when this happens. Anyone have any ideas? Bad wheel bearing? Breaks getting stuck?

I have this very same issue. Well, almost. The truck slows down way faster than any vehicle I've ever had (including a 2008 Dakota and 2004 Durango). And on a steep down hill it even slows down like I've got a large sail.

I jacked the rear up and then each side on the front to check for sticky calipers but they were fine. But, now that I think about it, I haven't tried pushing in the clutch to see what the effect is. You might try popping it in neutral to see if that changes anything. I would assume that if the problem doesn't occur with it in neutral then it's engine/intake/exhaust related. But if it does happen in neutral then it's brakes/bearings/drive line related.

I had a problem like this awhile ago but when I checked for a stuck caliper I couldnt find any signs till one day I talked to a dodge tech and said to replace my rubber brake lines. After awhile they get soft and sometimes they will suck shut and restrict flow but 5-10min after the truck has sat it will be fine again for awhile. 40.00 and 2 new brake lines later and my problem was solved. My rubber was starting to crack so they needed replaced anyway.

Very interesting. I'm going to have to check mine this weekend. I wonder if I can find braided SS hoses for it.

Well im pretty sure i figured out why this was happening. It was my truck telling me i need to redo my brakes ASAP. Then day after I posted this they started grinding. Cant believe it still had the OEM rotors and pads.

Default Slowing down when coasting down a hill

I have the same problem and my mechanic said what is happening is the rubberband seals in the transmission is wearing out. He also said to temporary fix it is to warm the transmission up for approx 5-10 minutes in warm weather- in the winter it will take longer.
