i got a complete gasket kit for $30 shipped its a eristic and didnt realize the one i bid on was a 99-03 so whats the diffrence from 03 to 04 i cant see much of a diffrence but does anybody know

not a clue man, but i would feel more comfortable using the recommended year though. call the dealer, they might know.

 

Possibly changes to the engine I'd Imagine, just cause everything else 97-04 on dakota's generally fit all years in some cases.
But that is rather odd 99-03, but then again valve covers were changed is one of the obvious changes.

 

alot of the other parts are 98-02 then 03 and up and theres a 80 bucks diffrece in the sets but im sure i can use some of them cause last i checked valve cover gaskets were 23 so if thats alll i can use oh well

 

ok doing some cross refrencing on rock auto on the gaskets between the 03 and 04 4.7l i found 90% interchange and only have found two gaskets that are diffrent all the following are the same these are the ones i looked up

crank main bearing seal kit
rear main seal
head gaskets
intake manifold gaskets
valve stem seals
oil pan gasket
exhaust manifold
oil filler housing
water pump gasket

now the diffrences i found were these two
valve cover gaskets probley due to the change from magnesium to plastic my guess they changed the design of the gasket so if i use a set of 03 and earlier valve covers on a 04 which set do i use

timing cover gasket set looking at this there was a few designs to the timing cover set one using a flat gasket and one using the rubber seal style and a diffrence in the price has been found behind the two gaskets listed http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...,parttype,5484
