the reason i asked was, the driveline shop which rebuilt my diff, said it was aftermarket, cause it had clutch paks installed for the posi, and advance auto gave me a rebuild kit and it wasn't even close to working and thanx for the quick reply

took my 2001 dakota in today, to get the rear gear changed to 4.11 from 3.55 man o man iam glad i put the 4.1 gear. my mpg went from 9-11 to 13 mpg all in town. it moves out with a LOT less pedal. i get it to 35 mph the trans kicks into overdrive and the rpm drops to 1400 and cruses with no trouble at 1400 rpm 35 mph. best $1600. i ever spent

+1 on the results!

I too am looking to change from 3.55 to something deeper and its also a choice between 3.90 or 4.10.

may seem like i am trying to argue, but i'm not, just not real clear, isn't an LSD an "OPEN" diff?? with spider gears and no clutch paks. and a trak lok with posi has the same spider gears with clutch paks installed on spider gears? the way it was explained to me is i have posi all time except when turning

open diff is 1 wheel peel and LSD or track lok is a normal 2 tire burner. dont know about the clutch packs spider gear stuff.
