truck will not start.....help!
i was coming home from work and the transmission was acting up. when i went to work the transmission was fine 2nd gear had been messing up for awhile and it was very slow to accelerate and i heard a grinding noise if i did try to accelerate real fast but if i took my foot off the accelerator and quickly put it back into the accelerator it would shift to 3rd and the rest of the gears just fine. when coming home from work the transmission would not shift past 2nd gear and i checked the fluid and the fluid was full. when i went to leave the place i stopped in to check the fluid the truck died and would not start and i had transmission fluid all over the ground when i got the truck home it still will not start i took ether and sprayed it down the throttle body and it still will not start and i have a huge puddle of transmission fluid under the truck i was wandering if maybe the torque converter went out and not the transmission because ive never had a transmission that has went out and not allowed the truck to start and drive in just the gears that it didnt loose? its a 1999 dodge dakota with a 3.9L 2wd automatic
Well just to make sure with these Dakotas When you check the trans fluid did you have the truck in Neutral? As if you check it in Park the fluid will be up and you will not receive the correct reading on the dip stick. Where is the fluid leaking from on the transmission like is it leaking from the back near the drive shaft or the bell housing or the trans fluid pan?
