so in synopsis,

honda- f$%^$^$%ed

you- his insurance fixes truck

Based on the excursions I've had, you might need a steering alignment, but i doubt it hurt the frame. And the tire looks flat?

I would concur, looks like turn signal hit his fender, and tire hit door. Fairly soft impacts I would imagine.

I think you're fine. just unbolt the bumper to make it drivable after you get estimates made. Looks like the hood and grille survived, so bumper, headlight, foglight, and driver front fender is only damage?

Since you have the chrome bumper, I'd be wary of the replacement, that the chrome doesn't flake off. I think $12-1500 sounds about right with labor.

I had very similar damage to mine 2 weeks ago, but it busted my battery box and the fuse panel under the hood, it cost $4775 with labor. Not a cheap fix but it was done right, and best of all I didn't have to pay a dime!

Seems to be a bad month for Daks, I guess. Weird stuff. If the shop is anything like where mine is at...one little knick on parts and they'll replace everything. My radiator hardly got touched but they replaced it anyway. I still seriously doubt that the work costs $6k for mine. All I needed was the frame straightened out and I could have fixed everything myself for a fraction of that price. However, since Allstate offers the lifetime warranty...might as well have them do it. I would have seriously considered having the truck totaled out if I knew the price jumped from $2500 to $6k.

Looks like you hit at the right spot because it kept you clear of the mechanical components.

it's like the PIT Maneuver. Use a little bumper and nothing else gets hurt.

Everything is getting replaced with oem parts idc what insurance says. The grille is scratched from where the headlight pushed over so I might as well get it done. Ill have to figure out a way to get my bumper undone the metal part is covering over the 2 top bolts.

Yeah that seems like the best place to hit in a front end collision.

Smile wow thats high on parts price

dodgeramguy85

If the insurance company is paying then no big deal on the price of parts but those individual prices are very high they must be from the dealer at those prices you can find most of these parts way under those prices and still good quality parts.

I have been pricing almost everything on my Dakota these last three years so I know what I can spend to fix things as needed.

The price of a new bumper is $500 by you but I can get that at $100 or less same quality, all the other parts prices look ok but the grill I have seen them as low as $30 online sure the grill is a little thinner material but it works fine I got one my old grill was getting ugly so I grabbed a $30 grill its fine. been using it a year now.

I doubt that that fender flare has to be replaced. You'd be surprised at how tough they are. Depends on how long it stays in that position, I'm positive it will go back to it's original position when unbolted. What I'm trying to say is that it can probably be fiberglassed and painted. If they fix it, it'll cost a lot anyway. Try and see if you can get it back and try to fix it yourself..then sell it =P

Good thing you're not paying for it because those prices are outrageous. $45 for a V8 badge?! $166 for fender flare? It's molded plastic for god sakes.
