Default Malfunction Indicator Light

I have a 02 dakota sport 4.7 with light that pops up and had tested three times and it reads evap on code reader I changed the gas cap and with good ond and still the light comes I'm wondering if its a vaccum leak somewhere hopefully

what do you mean evap don't know the code just the light keeps coming on i changed the gas cap and i'm taking it to my local garage and putting smoke on vaccum and changing spark, wire and cap and other

we need the P-code. Sounds like either an over-filled gas tank or a rotted tank vent line.

There is an evacuator (i forget the name) under the battery tray. It pulls a vacuum on the gas tank via the charcoal can. If the vacuum pulls gasoline from an overfilled tank, it will set off an alarm for the MIL. Also, if it cannot pull a vacuum, it will also set off said alarm.
