Exclamation use the old wires

So you had a wired fan like my 2.5L Dak you are just installing a different fan cooling system?

Cant you use the wires in thier now just tap off the original wire system?

I dont know how the V6 or V8 engines are cooled is it a combo switched system and belt driven system?

2.5L Daks like mine are only wired cooling no belt driven fans

Or is the problem amps the new fan pulls more amps so it would burn out if just spliced into the original system?

the V6 and V8 and electrically assisted belt driven fans. The electric fans only come on when AC is on OR coolant temp is over some arbitrary number- i think 210 degrees.

I'll ditch that tiny fan (it's like 12" or less) and the clutch fan, and put the efan on as the only fan.

The efan on low moves more air than the clutch fan does parasitically engaged. So it should keep the coolant right at thermostat temp or just over, and will provide the same amount of cooling (if not more) to the AC condenser. So I should never need the high setting, unless I'm ad a dead standstill. Which is kinda common here in Arlington, Texas.

I just called mouser, they said that the 70 amp relay won't be in until october. What I'm reading says that the HHR fan only pulls 30 amps at startup, so I think I'll be safe with the 40 amp relay I have now. The taurus fan pulls significantly more amps.

yeah i heard the same numbers on amperage for the hhr.

us that have the stock efan, hemifever can actually have it turn on when ever it wants. not sure if he could do the same thing with yours. he has my stock efan turn on at like 130 and its on constantly. shoot him an email and ask if the 3.9 pcm has the same option.

yea, but at the same time, I've gone over-center on the gauge with the clutch fan engaged. I don't wanna know how far over it'd go on just the elec fan, even with it on at 130 with a 180 stat.

but with the hhr fan i dont think you will have to worry. blown287 said he could watch the temp gauge literally drop when it was on.

exactly. I figure I'll never need the high speed, but I'll put it on a rocker switch in case I ever do. Better to have the option, than to not have it at all.
