Default Kota Took a dump!!!ERRRG!

Well my father came to borrow my truck to haul his trailor being his puny ranger could not do the job.. well on the way back to his house with my truck.. it decided to take a dump.. started out with a shudder/studder/vibration.. then proceeded to feeling like it was missing randomly across all cyl. then started to sputter and die like it was not getting fuel..

So he let it set a few moments then it would fire back up.. I think he was able to drive it about 600ft-1000 ft before it took a dump again.. fighting to keep it rolling across 5 lanes of traffic to get off the freeway

I arrive and fire the truck up.. starts like normal.. but is running insainly rough.. give it some gas.. and it sputters with tons of hesitation.. up to about 3.5 K then clears up.. you can really hear the exaust and pop pow pop pow pow pow.. as its reving down.. then it gets close to idle and again.. and running like udder ****..

do it again and same thing.. then it gets down to idle and just putters out and farts.. a few times.

Let it set again.. and nothing..

The smell coming out the tail pipe while trying to fire it up smells like gas that's been sitting in an old lawn mower for a few years..

My first guess? Bad fuel? I can hear the pump in the tank.. it was trying to run but even in so much as acting like it was not getting Fire or fuel..
I'm gonna start here..

????? I'm currently draining the tank with my nifty 2.00 hose from orielys.

First (Pickle Jar) full looks like a sorta yellowish stained tobacco & coffee teeth from lack of proper brushing golden color.. it really sorta smells like gas.. but then again.. smells like it was just drained out an old lawn mower thats been sitting..

SO i will start here.. once i get all i can i'm going to get fresh gas in a gas gan and put it in see if i can get this POS running again..

Thanks for reading and I hope you found humor in my descriptions.. I know i sure did as i was writing..

Wouldn't you know finally my paw has tool that i can actually find useful for once! I took the gas line off and it was pressurized very well let me tell you, and even let it shoot out gas and yea it was coming out like guys at a wet t-shirt contest..

In anycase.. so after draining the fuel.. setting there turning it over with fresh gas and a drained fuel line.. it started to try and 'hit' kinda.. well after several attempts at that and smelling the smell of old lawn mower gas coming out the tail pipe.. and it just barley having a thump to it but not really hitting..

I went under the hood and checked around.. nothing loose and no wires damaged all that..

Finally ended back at the coil.. and I dont know why but something (Divine intervention here?) had me grab the coil and shake the pooh out of it.. needless to say.. the coil was moving from the actual metal <-- not sure what you call that.. but in anycase.. i threw my old one back on.. (thank God I keep all my old parts as a "just incase for hard times measure" ) and went and it fired up first try..

Its still puttering a bit but its actually running and staying running. Exuast smells like an old Chevy...

I will go back out in the morning and crank her up and let her run for a while.. if i can get more than 2 ft. then i'm doing better than i was at 3pm Monday.

air + fuel - spark = soot, and lots of it.

Interesting to have a coil fail on you like that. With computers, you can't do the old screwdriver test anymore. have to actually carry a spare spark plug with you, and have a good ground for it.

On our old dually, dad did the screwdriver test many a times. Nowadays, that'd kill a computer in a heartbeat.

The fuel was bad too.. I'm wondering.. lack of fire.. the pcm try and pump up the voltages through the coil and it fry it self?

IDK..

Cat is now bad too.. rattles coming from the inside when you rev through a particular RPM range you can hear it rattling inside..

ROFL.. I think i'm going to either hollow it out or just put stock back on..

This is POS cat anyways.
