Default Hello Everyone_First Post

I'm Larry from east central Kentucky and I'm the new owner of a used 2004 Dakota that has been well maintained and is very clean. I'm inspired to keep it that way, so here I am!

Toyota bought my 1998 Tacoma back because of a rusted frame problem and I used the money to buy the Dodge truck from a local dealer. I had done some research on trucks and liked what I read about the Dakotas and this particular one popped up at just the right place at just the right moment at just the right price.

I just bought it yesterday and haven't even got all the paperwork on it yet.

Anyhoo, the A/C blower moter quit suddenly about 2 hrs after I drove it off the lot.

How is the fuse to this motor identified on the backside of the lid to the fuse box?

Are Dakotas known to have problems with the blower motors and/or circuitry?

Thanks.

Red face thats great welcome

Tell us more about the Dakota year engine body style so on.

You could be in for a nasty suprise with the blower if its a fuse your ok but if not you need to remove the dash to fix the blower thats about $600 in labor.

I hope its a fuse and I dont know where the fuse is. sorry

Take it back and tell them to fix it.

Whew, are you always so optimistic?

I may have found my answer here:

I'll post back when I get time to find out.

Thanks to nesielheum for creating that fantastic power point and info about the blower resistor and replacement; that guy's a real champ. I wish there were more human beings around like him.

Exclamation you cant take back?

Take it back to the place you got it from and have them fix it.

If the fan is blowing fuses that means something is wrong and my warning is this if the dash needs to be removed to get to the blower it’s going to cost you big $$ so return it and demand it be fixed.

They probably knew it had this problem

you dont have to remove the dash to pull the blower motor... atleast in my 01 I didnt, 3 8mm screws and a wiring harness and it came straight down and out. Id check and see that you are getting power to the blower motor. I think DAKAZ is refering to the E-core with your labor time. List price on the blower motor is $153.00 sugg. and labor calls for 0.7 hours.

Default stuck with $$$ bill

My thing is this why buy a car that needs within two hours of buying it a $900 fix is it worth it.

I think you have a few days to return any used car and get your cash back I belive.

Default you sure about that??

Even in the manual it says you must remove the INSTRUMENT panel.

You are talking about a Dakota correct.
