Hi all , parked truck next morning cranks no spark.have looked other threads no help.
I have check asd relay,grounds,splices,all fuses in and out,replace ecm(computer and crank sensor, took all wires engine compartment out of loom all look like new, truck cracks no problem, rotor spins as it should,any idea's ? HELP!!!

 

Did you test the coil?

 

Yes replaced coil, today replaced the distributor and it fired right up but only for about 5 seconds then asd cuts it off each time trying to start does same thing tried another asd relay and same thing ???? any ideas?

 

do you have anti theft on yours?

 

I dont see any but has remote door locks

 

hmm i know on some other vehicles when ever there is an issue with the anti theft going on it will do a short start like 5 sec or so and turn off every time. i don't know if the dakotas have that or not.

That sounds like vapor lock of the old days.

Did you get a bad tank of gas that could be a possibility?

 

I know on my 98 the security light will flash on the dash if its in lock down mode
