I am really up to my eyes in misery that i nor a mechanic that i trust cant figure out whats going on with my truck... Here is the story: When i go to use my truck sometimes it will start and run on its own, sometimes it will start and i have to give it gas to keep it from shutting off and it still will while driving for the first 5 mins, and then there are times when it will start but not turn over at all!! the time that it started and wouldnt turn over at all, the truck was getting plenty of fuel, and when i tried to spray it with starter fluid it still didnt work i had it towed to my mechanic shop that evening they didnt get to it until the next morning and he told me that it started up fine for him. they ran all the test and checked everything and it all came back fine. then they let it sit for a couple hours and tried it again and it was still fine.
i get the truck home and for the first couple days it was fine, and then it started all over again!!! i really need to advise before i pay for the most expensive thing to get placed and when it could only be a 50 dollar fix. Thanks

 

Welcome to the forum..Before we can help we need more info:

What engine and transmission do you have?

How many miles on the truck?

Do you have any codes stored? On your '01 you can turn the ignition key from off to on/run and back to off 3 times, on the third time leave it in the on/run position and any stored codes will show in the odometer. If there are any codes, there are several lists of code explanations up in the FAQ section at the top of the Second Gen home page.

Have you done or had any other work done on the truck recently that might cause these problems?
