Lightbulb Can you swap out the 9" back brakes to the 10" brakes?

I have the 9" back drum brakes and don’t like them I think they are a bad design and have never worked very well can you swap them out for the 10" drum brakes is it just a bolt on change?

Or better still disk brakes for the back

My truck is a 1998 base Dakota 2.5L stick

Smile so a 2004 is the one Im looking for?

Thanks moparman_2004

So a 2004 rear-end is the year Im looking for with disk brakes?

I was wondering what year I needed to look for.

Do you lose the parking brake with the swap?

The ABS system works with the swap or other mods will be needed?

Mine is an 03' and I have rear disk brakes as well, and you will have to change the rear most cables for your e-brake to hook up and work properly, also you will need the portioning valve for the disk brakes instead of the drum.

I've just heard that the rear discs dont stop as effectly as drum brakes. Not saying it's true but just what I heard.

Cool anything is better than the 9'' brakes

Anything is better than the 9'' brakes I have they suck.

Besides Disk are so much easier to work on like night and day I’ll take Disk any day over Drum.

I hate all those springs and gismos in Drum brakes

Look at this junk

Once you do it enough it seems just as easy as calipers. I've done like 10 in the past year I can do a side in 15min disassemble and reassemble

Default How the hell

How the Hell do you keep the shoes from popping out as you try to snap in a spring just infuriates me do you use special tools that make it easier?

Those 9" brakes are crap at best I think the 10" are a better design.
