Default Please help!

I have recently had to put a new clutch in my 2001 dakota (3.9) while doing this, my slave cylinder popped open, which i have read then needs to be replaced. I replaced the cylinder and still got no pressure behind my clutch pedal. continuing along the line of the hydraulics being the problem, I replaced the entire system south of the reservoir. I still get no pressure behind my clutch. I have been working on this every waking minute for the last three weeks and still cannot find the explanation. Please help

What parts are you using? Did you bleed the system?

It sounds like you have air in the system. There is no bleeder on the OEM cylinder. I'm not sure about some of the replacements.

If you dont have a bleeder then run the front end up on ramps (or jack up and put on stands) remove the cap and press the clutch pedal. Use a block of wood to hold it in. leave it like this for the night in the morning come out. With a srew driver handle tap the line from the tranny up working any of the last bubbles out. Top up fluid and replace cap, test it out.
P.s. make sure the fluid is full before you leave you dont want the resovior to run empty or you will just be putting air back in.
Hope this works for you as it has for me in the past

Default That is a **** off

That infuriates me not having any way to bleed the clutch.

Y2kkustomes never heard of trying that to get any air out of the system

Why no bleeder system for the clutch is a question Dodge should answer

It's so you have to buy the entire assembly from the dealer. They also probably saved 2 cents each unit.

Lightbulb Y2kkustomes I wonder

Y2kkustomes I wonder if a better way may be to un-bolt the slave from the bell housing only two nuts and let it drop down to the ground overnight then tap the line then re-install the slave no jacking up the truck.

I just found this no bleeder problem this last week thinking of ways to head off any needed repairs and though of replacing the old clutch cylinder fluid as a needed maintance only to find no way to do this.
