Default '98 Dakota keep dying

I posted this on here quite a while back for a friend. His Dakota has an intermittant problem of dying. It will run great and then it's like it loses fire and dies, he has a 5 speed so it slowly slows down until he pushes in the clutch, then it's stopped. So far the computer has been replaced, fuel pump and distributer cap.
Earlier when we were messing with it I noticed it had one of the ground wires cut off going to the battery. We replaced it and it seemed to be the fix, ran great. Then in a day or two it started stalling again. We then replaced the fuel pump, and again it seemed to fix it, but again it started stalling. Yesterday I put a new crank position sensor on it, and it ran perfect, I drove it for 11 miles, came back home, shut it off, and restarted several times, ran perfect. He drove it home (5 miles), still perfect, and when he went to go somewhere about 6 hours later it was messing up again. It has been doing this same thing for over a year now. I'm starting to wonder if it has a short somewere, does anyone have any ideas?
This thing starts very easy, has great power and purrs like a kitten, and then it dies. Help!
This has a V-6 engine.

I just talked to him, and it hasn't messed up again since that last time Sunday evening.
Is it possible the ignition switch could cause this?

He's still having the same problem. We just replaced the tps and the iat and still has the same problem. Could this problem be the computer? I mean it absolutey runs perfect, then it won't start, but hit it 3 or 4 times then it fires up and runs good. Or it can be driving down the road and start stuggling and then die. Keep hitting the starter a few times and it will fire up. It always runs good for a while after disconnecting the battery cable for a while. Any ideas?

Today when it wouldn't start I checked for fire and it had none.
