Default Need advice on the cuase of a problem!!

About a 18 months ago i threw a evap code in my 04 dodge dakota. i guessed it was the gas cap and let it go and it went away. unfortantuly it has been getting more persistant. i changed the gas cap to a new one. the problem is my truck has also started to idle high at times and becuase of that it shift down really late and hard also when this happens i have lack of power. Also it seems to be linked to aggresive driving like if i have to hit the throttle to get out of the way or just to have fun. however this problem is not consistant just like the code. i have not run a smoke test yet. i am asking if anyone has seen simular issues when the evap code is thorwn. i did check all the fuese and there all fine relays seem okay. im wondering if the computer is messed up. now granted i did put really cheep spark plugs i it three years ago...i know that may be it. im going to change those first but any suggestions are welcome.

i think it was a p0442 but i cant remeber when i had my buddy check it with a reader he cleared it. it was to do with the charcole system. but the code has not poped up since he cleared it three months ago but it still runs bad at times.

I've only ever had 1 time when my truck had a high idle while my evap code was on. It was lik -10 out and my truck sat in it unstarted all week it lasted for about 30 sec then went back to normal by itself. I think it might be your iac causing your high idle and your tps could be the problem of the power. Before you replace any of that check all your rubber lines from the charcoal canister to the engine. Replace the ones that are cracked and rotted. Check all the ends to make sure they are good.
