have a 98 dakota 4wheel yesterday driving back home noticed a thumping noise ( pebble stuck in tread) sound ... but when i apply brakes it stops .... i lifted up front end rotors arent stuck calipers seem fine ... im clueless on this never heard this noise since before .. ???????? thanks for any info

 

Does it have rear disc brakes? If so the rear e-brakes could be bad. My sister's ford truck had that sound and that's what i found was wrong. E-pad had came off inside the drum section.

 

No just drum brakes. But after inspection. Found out one of the springs broke and the pad was rubbing against drum. Thanks for info though
