OK, so I went through my plugs this afternoon; was not able to go through all of them; but in any case... Basically I'll have to decribe this.. If you look at the first pic below you will see the area that looks darker around what I'm going to call "Rim" now the truck has about 4-6K miles on this set of plugs and I'm being generous.. Notice the black area; when these were still shiny new looking that area that is now black was a bluish color; the same color that stainless steel would turn when its super heated up.

The next shot is the same plug; notice the core; notice the black burnt area.. this is from #3; I checked number 5 & 7 and they have the slightly burnt around the rim; not 'as bad' but its there; but the core (white) does not; maybe a faint discolored area but nothing like the following pic of the plug from #3..

Please chime in and tell me what could cause this; and what could cause the bluish tent I'm describing that has now turned to a burnt area.

They are a little bit blacker than normal. Supposed to be a nice tan color. I think you could try a different plug maybe that insulator is bad or damaged. When you noticed the blue on the plug how many miles were on them? Also are you using any oil?

Tires; right now I'm running some plain jane street tires P235/75/15 but I'm getting new tires this weekend.

DodgeRamGuy: I noticed it about 500 miles after replacing; again this is not a DD it sits in my garage I use the truck to go back and forth to the store mostly; and some times around just doing w/e.. Soon to be out in wonderland though when i get my new tires.

But I have not looked at the plugs for about 4 months or so now.. the other plugs i pulled were not as bad but had the similar around the 'rim'..

If it was rings would I not be burning oil.. and get some sort of smoke out the tail pipe? Which ring we talking about here?

Oil: I've used about half a quart since Early Feb. when i last changed the oil. I've put on about 2-3K miles since then; however there is a small leak in the front of engine its not major and I have a slow leak on the Pan drain plug; which accounts for the missing oil.. I'm due now to change again

Something not visible in the photo of that plug is right at the base of the plug that meets the metal its like strait up and down marks; like stress marks; brown color.. cant tell if its broke; cracked or just discolored.

I Know this plug might have a problem; comparing to other the rest are not anywhere as near as bad from the ones I've checked I'll go through each one and try and pop photo's

You can go try to get a set of ngk's could be just the plugs and im not thinking rings just plenum gasket, I dont think I would worry about it too much.
