Default tick solenoid?

after finally isolating a tick at idle i have traced it to a solenoid at the top center of firewall. it has vacuum lines coming and going and a solenoid that ticks about once per second od so, seems to speed up with the engine. disconnect electrical and the noise is gone, what is this solenoid for, and should it be ticking.

Dont know why it would tick. Mine doesnt you could try swapping in a new one. If its stuck or not working properly it will throw a cel. If you dont have a cel then chances are its either fine or on its way out. Either way I wouldnt worry about it.
