Default OD switch on dash overide

I read somewhere that the OD switch on hte dash can be rewired so the trans is not defaulted of OD mide evertime it is started. The fix involved joining 2 wires under car on auto trans connector.. But I never found out which 2 wires could be connected so an off-on switch could be installed on the dash. I don't usually drive on the freeways in the winter and when the trans goes into lock up and unlock then keeps going out of overdrive, causes wear in the converter, the worn brass crumbs go through the rest of the tranny causing it to require replacement. (After 175 K km's). Does anyone out there know what wires have to be addressed on a 94 Dakota with a 5.2 4x4 with an OD automatic?
Thanks
Dave
