Default cruise problem

went out of town for the holidays, first time ive really had my truck out on the highway, notice that the cruise is not just kicking the tranny out of overdrive but is actually downshifting even on small hills, hitting 4000 rpm until clearing the hill and then it will shift. sometimes i would be almost to the top of these small hills then it would kick down like that, other times it would work fine and just come out of overdrive like i was expecting. also noticed my dash lights have quit working, everything else seems to work fine, maybe a fuse havnt got to check yet,

Most problems with the cruise control is caused by a bad TPS or Speed sensor.
With your description of the problem I not sure what it is.
