Default When turning steering wheel I hear alot of noise

When I go to turn the wheel for a while like going around a ramp on the highway I hear alot of noise, squeeling and so forth. Sort of like what u get when u get into a very cold vehicle in the winter and go to turn the wheel and you get a little bit of noise, well i get alot. Any ideas? Belt? low fluid? I also get a physical thump when going down the road if going very slow I feel it. The PO said that one of the tires has a knot in the thread which causes the truck to "jump" but I didnt feel it when test driving it and didnt notice it till I was almost home. Does that sound rite?

well the one noise was the power steering. I opened the cap and it was bone dry. Had no fluid in there.

after adding fluid and all it seems to be fine. Seems the special PO was to lazy to do that also. I hate used vehicles!

Have you checked the lines to make sure you don't lose PO fluid again? My line rusted right at the fitting to the pump...and I had no idea it was leaking because it was so small. Only way I realized it was when I was getting the mechanical sounding noise from the pump.

I havnt found the leak but I did notice that it was swquealing again and was empty. The shop said when they inspected the truck that it was a hi pressure line that was leaking. I havnt found the leak.
