Urban wtf where are the pics of the subi?

Like blaze and ramguy, I'll be getting a diesel once I'm out of school. I'm looking for an older one (pre 2000) because I don't want to spend a lot on it. I would like to buy a 2011+ WRX and then get a diesel truck as well. We have 160 acres and I want a truck I can drive in our woods and not worry about scatches and what not. I hardly use my truck for doing firewood and I already put a dent the size of a softball in the tool box, then drove over a stick that flipped up and dented the bottom of my door! I need a truck for the woods and my truck isn't it.

The hardest part is deciding between a Ford or a Dodge...

I was thinking about going diesel but I couldn't justify it...

And A STI will be appear on here in about a month or two. Don't start flippin out on me haha I'm still going through some paperwork before it is "official". The car isn't in my name in order to keep the insurance down. With 2 tickets totaling 10 point doesn't help my case...

Dodge all the way even tho the older 7.3 fords are pretty tough. We had 94 f250 with a 5.8 gasser. Did pretty good for a plow truck. Was actually the nicest work truck I had ever saw. I would go with a early 12 valve cummins. or even a first gen cummins. Both are very reliable and you can get them pretty cheap. Im looking for a 98.5-02 cummins and im at about 150-170k for 12-16,000. I can only afford about 16k. Its hard spending that much on a truck with 150k+ miles but we arent talking about gassers anymore. lol. Im pretty sure my mind is made up cause ive been looking at cummins all day long lol

LAST UPDATE!

I havent had any luck finding a parts truck that I could get a 5 speed from. I found a nv3500 only, he wanted 700 for it. I called a local tranny shop and guy told me rebuild the whole tranny new tc and install was 1,600. 1 year 20k warranty I think. He told me if I bring tranny in he will tear apart and see if he can just do 3rd gear or if I need a whole tranny. He said he wont charge me to look at it. I found one for 110 at junk yard so I think im gonna pull it have him look at it and if its good im going to throw it in my truck and sell it. Ive already been in contact with a few guys selling cummins so thats what im going for. Its been a good 4 years with my dak but its time to move on.

Sounds about right. I had a rebuilt trans put in my last Dakota for $1200 but it was 2wd so a little less to it and less time for the instal so $1600 doesn't seem ridiculous seeing it's a 4x4.

I just don't like the idea of dd'ing an older diesel. I would be putting about 25k miles a year on it once I'm done with school and it seems like things wear out faster since it's a bigger truck. I'll have my CBR for the summer but I'll be driving the 2500 the rest of the year and when it rains in the summer. I'll be plowing a few driveways in the winter and hauling mostly firewood, but other than that it won't see too much abuse. Just not sure if it's meant to see 25k miles on the road every year. Not really worried about the gas (or diesel in this case).

If I was gonna keep my truck 1,600 is a great deal for parts, labor and install plus warranty but im not sinking that much into a auto just to have it happen again. My truck is worth the same price it was 2 years ago so im gonna sale it for that right price while I still can

Just think of it like a reg ram 1500. Sure its a bit more HD but its made for the abuse. Brakes are more expensive, ball joints and oil changes but everything is more hd so it doesnt need changed as much. Where I live I see quite a few 2500's in the junk yard so parts arent a big deal. I know tons of people that drive 2500/3500's daily. A 1500 would really be good for me but I love the cummins. Just if you ever look at cummins remember the 53 block,vp44 pump and the 5 speed 5th gear nut. Other than that they dont have any problems. Number 2 and 3 are easy fixes but the 53 block is not. Its a weak casting that after 100k or so the water jacket wall corrodes out and starts to leak threw the block. Its still very fixable but is like 1-2k to fix. Not all 98.5-02 rams have this problem I think they said 10,000 or so. It just depends where that motor came from.
