Default I think the tranny is finally toast.

Well last night I hauled a bunch of lumber home from lowes. Couple hills I had to go up 3rd gear was used a lot. 40 sheets of 4x8 osb Normal duty 12 foot single axle trailer. Truck did fine. This morning used my truck was fine didnt really beat on it at all(no more than normal anyway) Parked it this morning and sat since I just got in it about a hr ago. 3rd gear is slipping so bad it will redline and wont shift till you let off then as soon as your back on the gas it does it again. Full throttle will stop the slip once it hits about 5 grand then it will shift once I let off. I didnt check the fluid cause im just not in the mood to! I think its fine tho all other gears shift fine. Just 3rd is fubar! Im gonna try to flush it on the machine at work to see if it will fix it(doubt it) but I currently dont want to do my 5 speed swap during the winter(im limited on garage space now too) Thing that baffles me is it was perfectly fine this morning.

Damn your truck only has like 85k on it too right? Sounds just like when the auto went in my last Dakota.

Must be the time of year for tranny's to choke. I think mine might be slipping a bit through 3rd. Or at least it feels like it. It's strange though, because it doesn't happen if you gun it from a standstill and run through all the gears. It feels flawless when I'm draggin other people haha.

Well if ur gonna change ur fluid, you might as well take out the valve body and see what's going on if anything there. My friend's father-in-law's truck with the 45RFE wouldn't shift into 4th one time. Turns out that the plate that cover the accumulators broke on the 4th gear accumulator right where a bolt goes.

Im at 95,3xx. I know a guy that works at aamco(Tranny specialist shop for those of you that dont know) Im gonna ask him what he recommends before I decide on anything. I want to put a 5 speed in badly but Idk if its gonna be worth it. My truck is rusting away slowly. So im wondering if I should just put in a junk yard tranny and just sell it. Ive been planing on a ram next summer so got to figure out weather it would be better just to run my truck till it dies or get a cummins like I want. I know ill love my truck with a manual but is all the work worth it if I might have it another 6 months. I currently have to run the cj for right now till I find a vehicle to use.

We moved back to Pa last summer and brought old Dakotas with us, planning on replacing the 94. Aint gonna happen. My trucks have *******ly no rust. Was going to buy an 89 with a small plow and put it on my 94 but the frame was completly rusted through the side I was afraid to tow it. Pa needs to use some other things beside salt!

It just must be my truck. We had a 95 jeep grand cherokee that we bought in 96 and I just got rid of it this summer it barely had any rust on it. There was a little bit on the pinch weld on the drivers door but had less rust than my truck and it had 120k more miles than my truck
