Default oil psi

I started driving my car more frequently a couple of years ago. My 03 Dakota with the 4.7 didn't see much use. I would run it 1/2 times a week but not always. Sometimes, or if it sat for a while when I would start it, it said check gauges. I would shut it off and restart it and it was fine. The gauge would read 0 and on the second start be normal. I sold my car and this is my daily driver again. It has been fine but twice last week it read 0 and said check gauges. When it ran at 0 psi, no strange noises or such. Really didn't let it run too lpng either. 125,000 miles, regular cab sport 4x4. Any thoughts? I have owned since new, thanks.

How long since an oil and filter change and what brands & weight are you using?

Could also be a bad oil pressure switch causing the problem.

Then I'd definitely think about replacing the oil pressure switch. It's located just above the oil filter.
