Default new dakota owner

hi guy i am a recently new dakota owner im new to this section not to the forum i also have a durango i figrued id stop over and say hi and appericate everything you guys do to help out with everyones problems. any ways my question is gonna be regaurding my dakota it is a 99 cc 5.2 5 spd 4wd and my question is i can drive it in 4th gear like apon take of but i put it in 4th down shifting it almost instatnly pops back out every so often it will stay in not often though all the other gears work great any ideas on what it could be i mean i dont have a porblem 5th to 3rd on down shift just wondering what it could be thank in advance

Hi and welcome to the forums.

It could be a bad or worn synchronizer. There are splines in the synchronizer that go over the blocker ring/friction cone that should engage and lock the gear in.

The NV3500 did have some problems early on.

Maybe someone else has a less expensive idea.

ok but is the truck ok to drive like this ive been driving it like this for 2 weeks i dont really see any reason why i cant but just asking
