I have to replace my rotors and pads. Are the discs with the grooves in them better? What type, brand etc of pads should I look into? I was able to get 100k on the the original rotors and pads with a fair amount of towing. I now have 125,000 miles and am needing to replace them for the 3rd time. It has been sitting and the rotors would rust causing the pads to wear quickly. It is now my daily driver again so I want to do a good job. Thanks

I’m dying to try these out http://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-Pair-S...sories&vxp=mtr don’t know the quality shoes just get some basic semi metallic pads those ceramic are way expensive and chew up your rotors if you want them to last stick with what works.

Lightbulb another

Brake pads are cheap to save your rotors just replace the pads every 4 years so they never get worn to the point they shred your rotors and you don't need to get them turned every time I don't and my brakes work great even with some small grooves in them.

Just use some emery cloth on the rotors to rough them up a bit before you install the new pads.

I've been happy with the Hawk pads on my truck. They've worn well without a lot of brake dust. I dumped my stock rotors long ago for Brembo's and I highly recommend them. I'm of the belief that you don't want to cut corners when it comes to brakes.

change the pads every four years? wow, i cant get 4 years out of my rear drums! I like Hawk and ebc as well. what i found that works for me, dollars per mile, is a OE rotor from the steelership and Napa's ceramic pads. with this combo, it has lasted me the longest and i am just now starting to feel a little warpage in the rotors. its been about 1.5 yrs on these, about 45k-55k miles.

Smile 4 or 5 is average for me?

4 or 5 is average for me?

But then I’m a casual driver these past years I stopped zipping around about 20 years ago it tears up your Truck too much I don’t baby it just treat it right.

I used to rip and tear up my autos but decided it’s not worth the repair bills any more.

Question 8 years on my rotors

8 years on my rotors still thick.

Did you ever think your ceramic pads are eating up your rotors that’s the skinny I hear ceramic pads will eat your rotors for lunch and cause warping.

I do think having the 2.5L engine prevents you from beating your Dakota up so bad when you have power you tend to use it.
