4.7 HO pistons in non-HO engine
Hey all. I have an extra 4.7 on the stand right now that I'm going to go through for my high-milage '00 Kota. It spun #8 rod bearing, so I'll do a complete overhaul. Has anyone used the HO pistons in a non-HO engine? Is there any interference with the combustion chamber? How about the full-float aspect...is the rod pin bushings the only difference (can I use the non-HO rods)? Thanks.
Because I have a non-HO extra engine needing rebuilt for a swap later. I don't have a steel crank, full float rods, HO heads, intake, or cams, so no conversion. I'll get pistons with the rebuild kit, so I might as well bump compression up a bit for nearly the same money, given that there's no clearance or rod issues.
