Timing chain
So last night I was thinking about changing the timing chain in the 5.2 that I'm getting before I put it in my truck. It has about 90,000 miles on it is that a smart thing to do? Also I've noticed in looking that there are lots of different types, some are just the chain and some come with both gears. Now my question is should I replace the gears with it, and what brand and type should I go with (standard or HD)? Also should I replace the tensioner also while I'm in there?
I would go ahead with the plate, and new bolts. Iv read alot of people saying its the bolts being to long that make it fail, but what is another 60 bucks for the plate and never worry about it.
i would be sure it realy needs it. i bet it wont need it till 150,000 or more. i have a factory service manual for a 2001 dak. if you need some pics moe7404@gmail.com be glad to copy some pics. the gear to gear setup is for racing it makes noise. if you have never done one you know that when the dots on the gears are lined up, the distributor is pointed to no 6 not 1, if i remember right. the most important thing is that the dots line up.
