Default Bad smells and misfires

Hi guys,

I've had a misfire issue on cylinders 1 & 3 for a while now but now I am getting an awful smell when I accelerate quickly, it's like the smell of gas when you're running rich.

I've changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor and gas cap (because I was getting P0456 evap leak) but I will still get a misfire when its warm. Never when it's cold and never when I'm driving. It will always happen when I start it up and start to go where you can hear it backfiring.

Could the smell be related to the fuel pump or injectors? What normally causes the bad smell as if you're running rich?

Thank you!

I am not sure about the misfires but I know when I damage my pre cat O2 sensor, it smelled really bad. Not sure if you would get a code if it was bad on yours or not though.

Should've added that the cat was replaced less than a year ago.

since you smell raw fuel out of the exhaust, this means that unburned fuel is escaping out to the exhaust which will kill that new cat you have in a short matter of time. If the wires are not crossed (cyl. 1 & 3 are right next to each other) and you've tuned it up, Have compression checked on all cylinders.

The cat was replaced by the dodge stealership when my grandfather owned it back in May 2011.

It costed him $2000 - I know... the f***ing stealership.

If that cat goes I'll be a nightmare to the dealership.

I was planning on doing a compression test in the spring when its a little warmer, but I'll try to borrow one from someone asap now.

Thank you.
