Default 4-Wheel drive issue

Hello,
I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota, 4.7 V8 automatic. I am wondering if anyone has advice on what I should check first, when I put my truck in 4WD it works fine but when there is a strain on the truck or give it a shot of gas a snapping comes from what sounds to be the transfer case? I would appreciate any thoughts/comments. Thanks !
Zack

Your solenoid may not be engaging the 4wd fully? check that all 4 wheels are under power...

There's no solenoid. It's all mechanical in '00.

Check your front driveshaft.

Pull harder then?

Sorry, cant say I can say much else...is there an adjustment in a cable or linkage? Isn't there a manual for DL on one of the stickies?
