Default trasfer case help

Hey folks I am new here and need some help very badly.

My 2000 3.9 extended cab 4x4 Dakota had the transfer case pretty much crack and break all the way around the output shaft.

Does anyone know what what transfer case I have and what I can use to replace it? can I use one from a jeep or a Durango or anything else?
This is my daily driver and I need it badly!!

Thanks for any help!!

If it's like my '99 it's a New Venture NP231D - so says the silver and red tag riveted on the backside of the case - should be easy to pick up at a junkyard and easy to install if you have basic tools and skills.
Good luck!

a cast iron case doesnt split like that with out a cause. you need to check things like frame aliment, broken ,missing bolts. goeing off road, jumping like a monster truck. if it was mine i would have the frame checked by good shop, you need to let some else check it out, why? cause you know the truck and over look things. dont buy a new case till you know the frame is ok.

I did find a missing mounting bolt which allowed the case to move and I think bind which caused the problem.
The truck has 155k on it and I put most of those on it so I know it hasn't be treated to badly.

I know I had my t-case split its self in half around the front output shaft and found out that the high velocity joint had gone out and caused it to bind.

Well I tore into everything and found that the rear u joint was toast and bearings were tottaly gone!

I got a case from a junk yard for 200, and replaced the u joint over the weekend and it is like new again.
