Default 5W-30 or 10W-30

Hey guys,

Nearing my first oil change with the Dakota and I just want to get some opinions on what oil to use. I'm from Ontario where the temperature ranges from -35C to 35C. I've always used 5W-30 in my cars, but I've seen people say 10W-30 for the dakota, but I don't know if they come from hot, cold, or hot and cold places.
What do you guys recommend?

Also, seafoamed my dakota this morning, only really noticed smoke when I poured it in the vacuum line. Not so much after I let it sit for 15 mins with seafoam in the crank case and gas tank, but hey, hopefully it does something.

Thanks.

I've always used 5w-30 in mine, never seen any issue with it.

I come from Pennsylvania where it can get from like 0 to 100 F and usually use 5w-30 in the winter time and 10w-30 in the summer...not sure what I'll keep in it now since I have a new car and probably wont put more than 5k on it a year but I'll probably stick to 10w-30 next change and stay there. I personally would just follow what is in the manual. I'm not sure what is recommended for the magnum motors.

Will it depends on the motor too, the 4.7 calls for 5w30, the 3.9 calls for 10w30. Since you're in Ontario I would run 10w30 in the summer and 5w30 in the winter although this winter it wouldn't have been a big deal since it was real cold too often.

one chrysler factory service manual said. oil should be as thick as can be and still get it started in the cold weather. how ever that idea is hard to test with out getting in to trouble.
