Default flowmaster fitting problems

for sometime I've been having problems with my exhaust ever since i took the messed up POs off and put a new exhaust off. I've had problems with stuff leaking here and there and fitting the exhaust. The main problem I'm having is the flowmaster is 2 1/2 inlet 2 1/2 outlet. Ok so no problem I figure just get a 2 1/2 inner and it will fit. the problem is that if i try a 2 1/2 id or a 2 1/2 od I cant get either to fit either inside the muffler or over the outside of the muffler so WTF! I've used those big band clamps in places but all I wanted to do was use 2 1/2 inch cupplers and clamp it and call it a day. I can't believe flowmaster makes there mufflers like this. Has anyone else had these problems? if so what did u do ? thanks

I know when I put flowmaster on my jeep when I wanted to put pipe over the lip of the muffler which was 2 1/4 I had to use 2 1/2 pipeing and clamp it and it sealed fine. With this being 2 1/2 do I use 2 3/4 ????????

i didn't have any issues. granted my exhaust system only stops at the muffler. but i threw a coupler in there to match the factory pipe to inlet. worked fine. i have the super 44 single in dual out 2 1/2 in and out. i would say that just join the next size up should be fine just clamp it down good. exhaust work sucks. almost as bad as brake work... blech

yesterday I took my exhaust off everything except the header. I finally realized after going to the parts store and playing with a flowmaster in there that my was defective. The one flange you couldnt get a 2 1/2 id or od to fit inside the flange or over the flange. So I realized I was screwed. I then took mine back to advance auto parts without my receipt and they gave me a new one with out any problem. I love advance auto parts. Now all my exhaust is back on and I have the adapters in both ends of the muffler and the exhaust sounds good and seems to be working rite.
