tach hook up
I want to hook up an aftermarket tach on her 98 dakota. Her dash has the GIANT gas gauge and no tach even though its a manual trans. Can someone point me inthe direction for hooking this up. Are the wires there behind the dash not being used? Thanks in advance for the help.

No, the wires aren't there not being used. The OEM tach is electronic and run off of the PCM. You "might" be able to swap clusters but that opens another can of worms.
Just get a tach and tap into the coil. No problem.
