So I got a 1997 dak, 4x4, 318 and on the first drive I heard a whine that sounded like a rearend. So I pulled the cover and the spider gears were destroyed. Bought a new carrier and replaced all the bearings and seals and put back together. First drive last night and its making the same noise. Any ideas? The only original parts left are the ring and pinion and axle shafts.

 

Pinion depth/crush spacer not adjusted correctly ???
