Transmission slipping - P1756 code
1998 Dodge Dakota 2wd - 233200 miles. Tranny has less, 2nd or 3rd one, from previous owner(brother-in-law), Auto Trans 3.9L Engine
Last year transmission was slipping some. Changed oil and filter and it worked better. On trip it slipped some and the motor blew up. Not necessarily related. Engine was going anyways.
I finally was able to put in a used engine this month. Engine works great. Tranny not so much. Didn't want to shift out of 1st and 2nd. I put some Lucas Trans oil into it and I was able to drive for a while with the transmission shifting better. Though in order for the tranny to shift from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, I would have to feather off the gas for it to shift.
Now I have a check engine light with a code of P1756. I'm wondering if replacing the pressure solenoid would help or am I better off replacing the trans. I would replace with one from a junkyard.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
