Has anyone ditched the clutch fan on a 4.7 and just went with the elec one?

There are a number of people on this forum that have swapped out their mechanical fan for an E-Fan. Sounds like a really good good mod and not too hard to accomplish.

dodgeramguy85 gave me this link a few days ago:
https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...3-8l-efan.html

The above link is for a 3.7 but it's a great reference for what you'll be getting involved with as far as what elbow grease, parts and tools.

Hope this helps.

Vice grips and channel locks are all I used...even did it with channel locks and a regular pair of pliers one time. Be careful on the pulley but clamp on the vice grips to the pulley and the I believe you turn it counter-clockwise with the channel locks on the big bolt on the back of the fan...might take a bit to break it loose then it spins right off. Had mine off for over 35k miles now and no problems at all.

Stock 4.7 fans will come on at like 210 or when the a/c is on. A lot of people just use the efan and dont have a problem.

The one great thing about the 2.5 is...stock electric fan.
