Default I understand

I never heard of the A/C causing your engine temp to rise well except on little 4 banger engines it will do that to small engines not a V6 or V8 though.

Your compressor may be going out or you have a clogged orifice tube or clogged/bad A/C dryer. You may be low on oil in the system an R/R of the A/C system may be your next job?

But its way easier than most think it’s just a hassle that’s all.

That is exactly what we are thinking. I need to rent the gauges as my dads are for R12 not 134a.. check the levels both Hi/Lo side pressure... and move from there. The AC works as 'good' I know the pully will need to be replaced soon.. as it's got the dust coming from it.. I want to catch it before it starts welding it self to the assembly.. like what happened in my Wife's liberty..

But I agree there is a problem even though it works.. there is a problem somewhere in the AC system rather its the Pump; Dryer or too high of pressure on the high side causing a rise in temps which is increase the air going through it to cool it off then into the Rad fins causing it not to cool. That's my Dad's first impression of the rise in temps. Not an actual rise in the coolant temp at the motor but rather rise in the condenser..

Wink Yes

If your orifice tube is clogged or the dryer is clogged the system will run hotter and your condenser will be putting out higher temps than normal this also puts an excessive work load on the compressor as it is under higher pressures than normal.

So my thought is correct.. When i shut the valve off temp dropped like 2-3 Degrees.. being the Hot Fluid is going to the Core never being used retaining temp and being pushed back in to the block..

But yes indeed sir.. this little trick made the AC Ice Cold... I put the fan on High and was still Ice cold.. normally it would be a little warmer.. so yeah.. this is a great cheap mod.. 10 bucks for the valve.. and a little time..

Something else that might help during really hot days like we see in Texas.. 100+ while i was lurking around the junk yard some high end Jags had the wrap on the AC lines the same material used on your AC at home.. Just a thought to keep it as cool as possible and keep radiating heat in the engine bay from warming the freeon up .. Just a thought.

Default My suggestion is

My suggestion is check the pressures in the system first and go from there.

But if you have never had the A/C dryer changed out I would do that and at the same time pull the orifice tube out and change that also then evacuate it and recharge it.

Add an oil charge with every dryer change out.

Talking I just grabbed this gauge set

I just grabbed this gauge set very nice for $135
http://www.cpsproducts.com/#/p-manifolds-MAID8QZ/

Now all I need is a vacuum pump like this one and I’m set.

IM buying this stuff because no one is renting this stuff out any more all the auto parts stores have stopped renting them this last year they are afraid of the EPA so they just don’t want to hassle with renting them any more.

I bet they try to outlaw the use of these things in the future and only certified shops can do A/C work NO DIY allowed or jail time or massive fines if caught fixing your own A/C.

EPA sux big ones.. that sux your stores stopped renting those tools out.. Guy at Oriley's has a hard on for my truck so even if they stop.. I might be able to use it to my advantage. They rent tools to both local shops as well as everyday joe.. that might come in handy.

Angry one store

O'Reilly stopped completely renting them you cannot find any A/C tools to rent anymore.

AutoZone has moved all A/C tools rentals to one store only yes only one store and it’s a joke I tried to rent the gauge set and I had to bring them back and exchange them two times because the first two were in bad shape and not usable I had the same problem with the vacuum pumps the first two were not usable first one no oil second was damaged the last one I got was damage but usable just barley.

So basically forget it no more A/C tool rentals in Arizona from now on.

Buy your own A/C tools or pay a shop
