Killer Gas
1.016 $ CAD per liter, roughly $3.86/gal CAD, so it's about $3.24/gal USD. at 84 cents on the dollar if that's the current rate.
DakinUK - isn't your octane rating also calculated differently?

freakin whatever the price war is in other countries. the hurricane is gonan cost us an arm and a leg in gas...3, not 2, but 3 Oil refineries were moved...ya I said moved by the storm out to sea, 83% of our production was shut down and as soon as we recover from Katrina (RIP all those who have lost their lives, love one's, home's, etc) its gonna go through the roof to catch up on the loss. Thanks mother nature, yet again rubbing it in that I had a 4.7 Litre V8.
Yes, you're right about the Octane rating being different. As ever there's more than one way to measure these things and yours it seems is more honest. By my (rough) calculation, our Regular (marked up as 95) would work out around 90/91 on your scale. The american method takes an average score using two different test methods whilst the Europeans tend to just post the higher figure although confusingly, they sometimes post the figure for both tests!
Got a Superchips programmer coming next week and I'm REALLY hoping I can get away with Regular gas with the max power program. Running Super doesn't bear thinking about! With the all negative influences regarding the price of oil at the moment, we are getting very close to £1/Litre, work that out for yourselves!

I was reading alot of articles on the net and found out that we get more than half of our oil from Canada and Mexico. Middle East only supplies us about 35-40 percent while the rest is offshore.
I just wanted to add my two cents into this common complaint by all American drivers. We love our vehicles, and unfortunately Detroit continued to build behemoths without paying much attention to the mpgs. They simply were pushing HP and torque; remember those Hemi commercials? What choice did we have? Buy Japanese? The only choice we have now is to push for lower prices at the pump (today for $2.99) and come up with alternatives to the present fuel. I am a big fan of diesel and hybrid fuels; soy or corn. Forget the outside world. The cost to pump from Arabia is $6 a barrel. Now where do you start finger pointing? We Americans will have to solve our own problems. However, US Oil Corporations can help the American consumer during these tough days. Instead, they gouge us and cite change in weather (switching blends for winter/summer) and uncertainty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I am living during the last days of Rome. I hope not. America is the greatest country in the world. At present, I drive slower and less. That's one way of rebelling. It's a start, but if all did something like that, the gas stations would definately lower prices much quicker to recoup there expenditures. Ted
