Bought a 2002 SXT 4x4 v6 5speed today for cheap. What should I do for preventative maint?

Planning for all fluids
Shocks
Plugs
Oil and filter
Air and fuel filters
Check brakes
Check ball joints
Grease all fittings

What else?

Anything notorious on these trucks?

Fuel filter is in the tank and isnt serviceable so skip that. Seems like you got a good list. I would just spend a 2 hrs under the truck with a light and go over every square inch of it to make sure you dont have any surprises in the future

 

I also did some some research and saw that it has a chain, not a timing belt- so no worries there either.

I'm trying to find the maint. schedule online but I'm having no luck. I don't get the truck until Monday, so I'm not sure if the manual is in the glovebox or not...
