Although it is good to save money, this is one area I wouldn't skip on it.
Most transmission shops will not work on the transmission inside the truck if they didn't install it. If warranty issues arise you will have to remove it all over again just for them to look at it if it needs more then pulling the pan.

yep let them do it. but have them remove the check valve in the cooler line, and put this external filter in the cooler line. auto zone 2210 trans fluid filter, ( magna-fine) it says power steering, but all so works on trans filter fluid.

alright thanks guys, but if i go ahead and do and take it out myself i can have it done this week but if not ill have to wait another two weeks to get the $200 but also risk making the transmission worse driving it to work and school everyday. Should i still just wait and let them pull it or go ahead and do it?

dont forget the torque converter is VERY heavy with oil in it. and mark the flex plate it might fit only one way, at the converter, and crankshaft. all so keep track of the the bolts, they are made special just for the flex plate. if the bolts are to hard to come of heat the bolt head to red hot, let it cool off. then you have to buy new bolts from chrysler. but NEVER NEVER reuse a bolt that has been heated to red hot. all so there is two dowel pins aliening the engine to trans. just be sure both pins are in when it goes back to gather.

The $200 is worth it.

Install it wrong? They wave the paper in your face saying "CUSTOMER DID LABOR", and kick your *** to the curb. Something is wrong internally? You have to remove it, again. A bolt snaps/crossthreads? You have to fix it.

That $200 is your peace of mind and your warranty, you're spending $15-1800 as is, another $200 is worth it.

I was about to do the same when my dak tranny went. Only mine was 500 cheaper but the more mechanics I talked to the more I heard about them being a pita to pull out. Unless you have a lift, proper hand tools, and tranny jack might as well spend the 200.00 its will save you a full day of work busted knuckles and a sore body.
