My new E-Fan Setup!
I ordered what I believe to be the '99-'00 Jeep Grand Cherokee fan (part number: CBG4F250) from Moparonlineparts
Hopefully it is this one: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DC...F250/?rtype=10
I was going to try the fan without my '97 stock shroud first just to see if it could cope with the heat. If not then I'll mod it to fit.

Just an update.. ran around the lake this week.. damn that was hot.. anyways truck did great.. fan kept the truck about I would guess 195ish.. Needle was barly covering the 2 up.. and thats fine for me..
Fan does seem to need a little more help.. but it seems to do a good enough job on its own.

What is the difference between the recall fan and what would be found in the junkyard?
The jeep fan versus the taurus fan...which would be better? Taurus is 4500 CFM and 2 speed, I already have the wiring in place, did it with the HID fogs.
I'm right next to junkyard city, can find whatever I want.
I'm an 01 so the overflow and washer bottles are above the radiator...would like to just slip the E fan under those...my lower shroud got destroyed in an accident so everything is real easy to get to from under the truck.

Recall Fan replaces the Factory Fan that is **** poor and breaks up.. I know the 2000 Grand Cherrokee was reported to be uneffected by it (Different ppl making that year)
In the junk yard you take the risk of it being one that was never replaced under recall if it happens to be one of those years..
On the Taurus Fan; If you can get your hands on one and youve got the room go for it..
The CFM ratings .. I dont know where ppl get their numbers from but i can tell you if you want to properly run E-Fan you need a custom shroud to get full benefit and max potential from the fans.. ELse you might have slight higher temps idling in high temp weather.. with AC running.. esp if your AC is like mine and runs the truck 10-20 degrees hotter.. ((overpressure i think)

I have a 180 stat in mine, electric AC fan is dead, AC is fine as long as I'm moving and the needle stays down. If I get stuck in traffic, the needle starts climbing over center and AC goes dead.
I checked with a heat gun, and with the needle 3/4 of the way over, the upper hose and intake manifold were 195 degrees. Not sure what the coolant within was. But the clutch fan sapps my already poor MPG and makes things nothing short of impossible to work on.
1 speed fan I'd wire always full power. 2 speed taurus fan is default to low, dash-switch-override to high. I wired everything when I did my HID fogs for the taurus. I'm in junkyard land so I'm sure I can find one.

Found this link, alot of good info.
How come nobody uses the Mark 8 fans? Taurus is enough, or the 8 doesnt fit?
Mark 8: roughly 22 x 18.5 needs ALOT of juice
Taurus: roughly 20.5 x 17.5
HHR: roughly 22.5 x 18.5 (same as Mark 8 roughly)
The Jeep GC fan seems to be a late arriver to the modding scene, but on par with the taurus or mark 8 fan.
Of course, I'll always take the 8 over the taurus if I can get it...Guess in order I'll look for Mark 8, Jeep GC, and Taurus. Jeep being questionable and wanting 2000 only with the big 4-0 motor.

these pages show for the ford fans:
1. 1993-1996 Lincoln Mark 8 RF-1.2.3 fan motor
2. ~1995 Mercury Cougar RX7 RF-24 fan motor
3. Taurus/Sable/Continental RF-125 fan motor
Basically, what this says, is to walk through ford junkyards looking a every fan motor and documenting which cars have which motors. Different models have different motors- IE the cougar RX7 get the mid-line fan, but the cougar XR7 got the mark8 fan.

Local ford yard has 9 Mark 8's. I only found 2 of them, and I think both had the 2 speed fan. I couldn't get a good look, but I felt for an inspection cover and couldn't feel one on either. One is a purple 94, the other is a maroon 97.
I pull, Yard wants $45 a piece.
