Default Paint vs Car Wrap

Alright so I'm a little bit of a new guy on this forum but i've searched everywhere and can's seem to find anything on this subject. So a month ago I got myself a 03 Quad Cab SLT and with the extra money I got from my summer jobs I'm paint my truck black. But my friend told me about this thing he did called a vinyl wrap or something like that, where basically it was a giant sticky sheet that went over his actual paint so that when he sold his car there wouldn't be any scratches on the real paint, just the car wrap. I'm not sure where you could get this done or how much it would be so if anyone could help me on that it would be greatly appreciated! And if anyone could give me a price range on how much it would be to paint it black to, keeping in mind I don't need the best paint job out there, but it does have to be sanded down because its silver right now.

i would paint it, with wrap it will probably be expensive but i have no clue of actual price plus the air bubbles.

I've been wondering about the wrap too. I have a section of my hood and a section on my bed side that has the clearcoat all white and crappy (black truck). I was wondering about just wrapping my whole hood...

It seems like a good idea because there's no scratches when you peel it off but no one seems to know the price. Anyone have an idea what it would cost for a full paint job though?

my question is why would you want to peel it off if your going to invest the money into that, id just get it painted. its bound to get scratched. as much as i tried keeping mine good i have ******** that have opened their door and hit my truck.

My 3G Ram has a satin orange wrap and its been holding up with the AZ Elements so far (live on 4 miles of dirt roads). Not a permanent solution but its nice to try some thing different while keeping your paint intact. See how it is this time next year.

If you're looking for temporary, plastidip works wonders. Peels off when you're tired of it, and its rattlecan cheap. I painted my friends' silverado's rims and they've been holding up for about a month now.

Thumbs down Dont like the wrap

Don’t like the wrap why I have a friend that did a wrap for his business and he is now hating it it’s all cracked up from the AZ heat and can’t get it off its so bad.

Now if he had started removing it three years ago maybe just maybe he could have avoided that.

Removing it is a nightmare.

The key is removing it before it gets bad

I'm just thinking because my clear coat is all white and grainy on my hood. If I were to paint it, I would probably have to get the whole thing painted...
