Knock When A/C Runs
Accumulator is on the low side service port reciever/dryer is on high side the r/d has a desiccant bag in side of it search google two different parts the reciever dryer is easly identifiable by the sight glass on top of it
I never said they were the same thing.
Rockauto lists it under:
Heat & Air Conditioning : A/C Receiver Drier / Accumulator
From your other link:
The Accumulator or Receiver Drier:
Accumulators and Received Driers are not interchangeable, but they perform the same functions. This component is in the A/C system to
1) trap, remove and hold moisture
2) filter particles or debris
3) also acts as a reservoir for compressor oil and refrigerant
As it is an accumulator there is no sight glass in the system.

First the sight glass disappeared with R-12 no more nada gone.
Second all Dakotas have an (A/C Receiver Drier/Accumulator) and its one part not two
00DakDan is on the money with what he says I have extensible researching the 2-nd gen A/C system and all its many changes the (A/C Receiver Drier/Accumulator) is one part that is how Dodge made them for the Dakota.

My dad pointed the same problem your describing here to me.. seems the pressures are off and/or the bearings are going out in the compressor. Have not really dove in it yet to find out bc of being at the lake all week.. but yeah.
