Nitrogen Shocks
I'm thinking about putting new shocks in on my '01 4wd Dakota and wondering if putting on shocks filled with Nitrogen would be better(mine are the original shocks). How long would the nitrogen last in these shocks?
About as long as hydrogen shocks. It's usually the seals that do either of them in.
Nitrogen is about 14x as dense as hydrogen by volume, so the resistance of the shock will be greater, meaning a stiffer/firmer ride...

Nitrogen filled shocks are supposed to give a better ride by not letting the fluid aerate under bouncy conditions. They are the ones with the little band holding them tight until you install them.
Go for it. They aren't that expensive. Heck, I haven't seen regular shocks in years.
