Default Video Walk Around - 2001 Dodge Dakota Sport

This is a link to a video I made today after promising some of the forum members some pics or video of my 2001 Dodge Dakota Sport.

Truck still runs strong even with 298,324 miles on it and I drive it everywhere. I just replaced the clock spring because the airbag light was on and the horn didn't work. But even after replacing the clock spring the airbag light is still on but the horn works now. Go figure! Other than that - she's cherry for a 2001 model!

Default Is that a 2.5?

Is that a 2.5? funny seeing all that room in the engine bay makes working on it oh so easy.

Yep! A little 4 banger 5 speed! And it is pretty easy to work on other than the heater core.

Wow nice truck for its age and miles. My truck just turned over 150,000 miles a couple weeks ago. I hope I get to 298,000 too. Nice truck, looks like you take great care of it.

That's a good looking 2.5 dakota. You can tell you take good care of her. It's nice to see other 2.5'ers out there.

Thanks guys. Ya I still take her on road trips too. Just got back weekend before last from a 4 day camping trip at Lake Thunderbird in Oklahoma which is 2.5 hours away from my house. The hills kinda slow her down some, but not too bad. It's paid for and it's all I need for what I do!

Well, there really isn't any secret. The only thing I do is make sure I always put good gas in it and change the oil. Oh and the timing belt every 60k religiously!

Really I asked Dodge about the chain on the 2.5 should I replace it they said you should never need to replaced the chain.

Now I’m thinking of replacing the chain tensioner but not the chain.

It’s always great when I can get info from a fellow 2.5 engine Dakota owner

Default 1998 Dakota to your 2001

Your 2.5 is very nice I like some of the changes they made over the years. but the engine bay from the 1998 to your 2001 is very different.
