i know the 318 will. youll have to wire in 2 new injectors and eventually get a nv3500. but not the 4.7 without some mods. ill let some others chime in, but this is what ive heard when browsing threads.

The nv3500 is a manual tanny. Unfortunately the 4.7 cant be put in without a lot of work. You will need a engine and tranny, computer, wiring harness, mounts and im sure there is other stuff im missing. You can put in a 5.2 in place of the 3.9 but then again if you dont have the 44re tranny it really should get replaced. You prob have a 42re which only holds the v6 power. If you put a v8 in and are hard on it, in a year or so you will need to replace the tranny.

just looked in the glove box and it says its got the 42re

and does it matter what vehicle i pull the trans out of? when i get a new one if need be

You can get away with the 42re if you arent towing or really being hard on it all the time. They all interchange so you can pull one from anything, there is a few 3.9's that had the 44re.
