Fan motor and control fire...

About 2 years ago the connector to the resistor pack (fan control) burned up for some reason. I replaced the resistor pack and dyked the smoked connector, replacing it with some crimped spade lugs. All was fine until yesterday when the spade terminals burned up again. Not sure on the cause. Maybe the fan is drawing too much current and it's showing up at the weakest point (the crimped terminals). But it's funny that the connector where the fan connects to the harness and the fan wires themselves look fine. Up until the wires fried the fan seemed to operate properly at all speeds. The resistor pack is a dead short when on high with varying resistance levels for the lower speeds Anyway, I'm thinking of replacing the fan and repairing the wiring to the resistor pack. Any additional hints would be appreciated.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Should be fun, the wires to the resistor pack are kind of crispy.
Just checked it this morning. Looks like it's running a hair over 12 amps on high. After examining the wires it looks like position 3 shows signs of charring while position 4 (high) and the fan lead to the resistor pack are completely smoked. Do you happen to know the resistance values of the resistor pack? Just checked it again, it's running at a hair over 14 amps mounted in the duct. The 12 amp reading was with the motor laying on the floor.

I re-installed the fan and it now runs around 17 amps. Might be time for a new fan motor. Also, I checked the resistor pack and it seems to be ok. The only real charring occurred at the spade terminals connections.
