Yeah, I think going from straight pipes to a muffler, its going to seem quite at first. I would give it a month or so, you'll probably adjust to it and like it.

I still wish I had gone with something different. The Hooker Aerochamber is too quite. Not a whole lot louder than stock. Thinking about going to a dynomax race bullet.

When I first got my muffler, I put the box on my bed... I told my girl friend I had a hooker in my bed... she was a little concerned at first.

I have a flowmaster 40 on mine and loved the sound, but just had to install a new cat so I can pass emissions since I moved to a new state that requires it and it has seemed to muffle it.

Oh yea and btw, I'll also add - I used to have a 40 series and it pretty much sounded the same from installation to its death.

So I'm gonna leave it on for probably about a month and see what happens. I had a friend rev it up while I was standing outside the truck and its louder than I thought. I guess its just different that I cant here it inside the truck compared to the straight pipe. I can't imagine how loud that was while out side the truck. Also if I would upgrade to a magnaflow high flow cat would that help with volume at all? I don't have to worry about emissions but I also don't want to remove my cat cause I'd like my truck to keep running right.

Who here has straight piped a 3.9? Im thinking of just cutting off my stock one because it has a leak on the bottom and sounds terrible. Emission laws are pretty straightfoward in Ontario and my cats are only 2 years old.

Flow master uses chambers to deaden sound therefor it really wont change. My magnaflow I had on my truck was a straight through design but was wrapped with packin. Was kinda quiet for the first 500-1,000 miles then started to get louder. Year later it had a great tone to it and just the right amount of deepness to it. Then I moved on to no muffler and just a foot of pipe after the cat. That was the best sound.

As far as a 3.9 straight piped
