Default Steering box issue

Friends 99 4x4 Dakota has steering issue, truck hit a ditch straight on and now steering wheel turns about 1 turn farther to the left than the right. I am thinking that it jumped teeth or gears in steering box, any ideas on a cheap repair or is a new box needed. Thanks, any help will be appreciated.

I doubt it jumped teeth. Check the entire steering linkage, tie rods, idler arms, pitman arm, everything. Something must be bent.

There isn't enough room in the gearbox for it to jump teeth, you'd crack the case.
